Eläinplanktontietoaineisto - ZPLANK

Eläinplanktontietoaineisto sisältää lähinnä ympäristö- ja aluehallinnon avomeren ja rannikkovesien seurantojen ja velvoitetarkkailujen kvantitatiivisia eläinplankton aineistoja. Lisäksi mukana on yliopistojen kenttäasemien keräämiä aineistoja.

Käyttötarkoitus: Aineisto on tarkoitettu lähinnä ympäristöhallinnon käyttöön. Eläinplanktonin määrä ja koostumus on tärkeä mittari meristrategiadirektiivin edellyttämässä meren tilan luokittelussa. Aineiston avulla on kehitetty luokittelumuuttujia. Aineistoa käytetään myös enenevässä määrin yhteistyössä yliopistojen kanssa, esimerkiksi tutkimushankkeissa ja opinnäytetöissä.

Aineisto kuuluu SYKEn avoimiin aineistoihin (CC BY 4.0). Aineistoon pääsee Hertta ja Avoin tieto -palveluiden kautta.

Zooplankton Information System - ZPLANK

The zooplankton information system contains quantitative zooplankton data mainly from the Finnish environment and regional administrations’ statutory and environmental monitoring of the open sea and coastal waters of the Baltic Sea. In addition, parts of data sets collected by university field stations are included. The data contains temporal and spatial data on the abundance of zooplankton, the interrelations of taxonomic groups and the species composition from the Finnish coastal waters and open sea observation sites, as well as long-term trends from the monitoring stations of zooplankton abundance and composition. The oldest monitoring data are from the 1960s. Species information is based on the Finnish Museum of Natural History Laji.fi information system.

Purpose of use: The data is intended mainly for use by the environmental administration. The abundance and composition of zooplankton is an important indicator for the classification of marine environment as required by the Marine Strategy Directive. The data has been used for developing classification variables. The data is also increasingly used in collaboration with universities, for example in research projects and theses.

The data is part of Syke's open access datasets (CC BY 4.0). The system can be accessed through the Hertta and Open information services.
